Sponsor a Capstone Project

1. Step 1: Email Your Proposal

   Email your draft project proposal as an attachment to gabegarc@nmsu.edu. Please include answers to:

   • Project Title
   • Client Name, Organization, Phone, Email
   • Project Description – goals and context
   • Organization & Department Summary
   • Required & Preferred Student Skillsets and Disciplines
   • Preferred Number of Students
   • Initial Research Topics & Literature Review Focus
   • Safety Considerations & Final Deliverables

2. Step 2: Schedule a Meeting

   After sending your email, book a meeting with Gabe Garcia to discuss and refine your proposal together.

   Sponsorship Cost

   • $6,000 — Industry & National Lab Projects
   • $4,000 — Internal Research & Creativity Projects
   • $500---$2,500 — Entrepreneurial Projects(Payments plans Acceptected)

   Additional costs may apply for manufacturing, machine shop labor, and materials.

3. Step 3: Submit Final Project

   Once your proposal is finalized, submit it through our online portal. We’ll attach this agreement to a formal participation agreement.

4. Step 4: Finalize Agreement

   • Sponsorship cost determined and added to the agreement
   • Both parties sign the participation agreement
   • Await student team assignment

5. Step 5: Move Forward

   If your project is selected and matched with a student team, we will officially move forward with development and collaboration.
